Tint “Jealous of Lee Mirim? She’s more like a big source of strength” [Interview]

tint-trans:

Contrary to other girl groups, Tint doesn’t have the concept of a ‘main vocalist’ as seen in their “Love at First Sight” performance. Tint, who recently met with OSEN explained that the member whose voice fits a certain part will sing it. This way, they can show various images in the future.

“The fact that we don’t have a main vocal is a distinct feature [of our group]. Having a main vocal shouldn’t mean that one person sings the whole song. No matter the song, it should be a system where the members sing what they can handle. Also, in the future when we have more albums released, because we don’t have a main vocal I think people will be able to say, ‘This has a different vibe’. When deciding who will sing a part in a song, rather than being greedy, thinking we have to have that part, I think we give it to the member we think can bring life to that part." (Mei)

Lee Mirim stated that because of her members who boosted her confidence, she was able to make it through the pressure. Because of the spotlight pouring down on Lee Mirim, you might think the members are jealous of her, but they say that they feel secure and strong thanks to her.

"At first I felt really pressured. Since many people may have been looking forward to me [debuting] and because there was the possibility of harsh comments and bad reactions towards me, it was difficult in the beginning. But I decided to think positively. Rather than thinking about doing well, I thought about working hard and having a good time with it. The members also supported me a lot so the burden decreased. It’s possible for them to be jealous, but they come to me saying they are thankful [for me]. ‘Even if you’re the only one who gets attention, drag us along with you. If the situation is somehow reversed, we will drag you along.’ This ignited a strong desire to work even harder." (Mirim)

"We’re strong because we have Mirim. I also think that because she has experience, there’s lots of things we can learn from her. The reason a team exists is to fill in the parts others lack. As we form this kind of team and gain strength I think we will fall if divided [united we stand, divided we fall]. If we debut and one person receives the spotlight we should wait our turn and give a lot of support and strength to that person." (Mei)

"Although we have a cute side, we also have a masculine side. We really admire Lee Hyori sunbaenim who is good at portraying that side. We have a lot to learn from her. We also want to break the thought that we should continue with the same concept we are doing now in the future. Rather than staying the same, we want to show progress." (Mei)
